As a former building contractor I have a love for old buildings that connect us to our history. They tell a story of the people who made our fine city what it is today. Going to Brewers Hill or the Third Ward takes us back in time and shows us the value of preserving our shared history.

Yes. Wisconsin’s 6th Congressional District has the Wisconsin Maritime Museum, which received a grant in 2021 for the Preservation and Conservation (Dry Docking) of USS Cobia. My grandchildren love touring this museum and this submarine.

As a rural district, we had a large railroad network across the district that played a vital role in distributing goods and people across the vast landscape. Preserving these locations helps bring to life the meaningful traditions of those who came before us. For example, the Soo Line Depot in New Richmond, and others like it, remind me of my grandfather who worked for Soo Line. Places like these help tell our rural story.
