Yes, significant parts of my district are historic towns on the Ohio River and its tributaries, largely developed in the mid to late 1800s. My house in Newport, KY was built in 1895 and is in an historic preservation district. The Southgate School (1868) stands in our neighborhood, one of the first Black public schools established after the Civil War. The district includes numerous civil war sites and important river crossings on the Underground Railroad. The Roebling Suspension Bridge (1866) still stands and is the most iconic structure in the district.
