Your Support Powers Preservation

As we approach the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026, our historic places should be celebrated. Unfortunately, many of the federal programs and funding communities rely on to protect the places that tell America’s story are under threat. Over the last 10 months we’ve seen efforts to cut critical preservation funding, mass federal layoffs impacting staff vital to carrying out preservation programs, and attempts to undermine bedrock preservation protections. As we combat these ongoing threats, your support is more important than ever.
Thanks to supporters like you, Preservation Action has remained a powerful force in Washington for over 50 years. We continue to respond to threats, mobilize our grassroots network of preservationists in every state, and provide the tools you need to be successful advocates. Last year we:
- Hosted a sold-out National Historic Preservation Advocacy Week, where more than 200 advocates from 45 states and territories advocated for preservation priorities on Capitol Hill (Advocacy Week 2026 will be March 2-5th in Washington, DC. Save the date and stay tuned for more.)
- Hosted the Historic Preservation Month Congressional Briefing in May, where we educated Congressional staff on federal preservation programs and policies
- Continued to grow the Preservation Action PAC, the only federal PAC dedicated exclusively to historic preservation
- Submitted frequent and timely testimonies, comments, and letters to Congress
- Invited a record number of Bruce MacDougal Advocacy Scholars to attend and participate in Advocacy Week
Your support makes our work possible.
Next year, our voice will be even more important. Alongside America’s 250th anniversary, we’ll mark the 60th anniversary of the National Historic Preservation Act and the 50th anniversary of the Historic Preservation Fund—milestones that highlight both our nation’s progress and the need for renewed commitment.
As we head into a historic year, we ask you to make a year-end contribution that reflects the importance of the places we fight to protect. Whether you can give $25 or $250 or more, your support strengthens the only national nonprofit dedicated solely to grassroots preservation advocacy at the federal level.
Please make a year-end gift today to power this essential work.
