Dear Members and Friends,
We cannot thank you enough for your participation and support in 2018. Preservation Action’s Board and staff continue to improve our educational and advocacy programs, build our organizational capacity and most important, have a growing impact in Congress and within our nation’s federal historic preservation programs. We ask for your financial assistance as we plan for the year ahead.
Due to the hard work of the national preservation partnership, incredible grassroots efforts during Advocacy Week and throughout the year, and a little good luck and timing, the 115th Congress delivered a record $96.91 million appropriation to support the Historic Preservation Fund. This provided critical support for State and Tribe Historic Preservation Offices and increased funding for historic preservation categorical grants programs, such as the Civil Rights Movement and Save America’s Treasures grant programs.
We can’t rest now. We need to keep up this momentum in the 116th Congress. Preservation Advocacy Week 2019 is less than three months away. Taking advantage of the important feedback we received about last year’s training session, and working in partnership with the National Conference of State Historic Preservation Officers, we will continue to improve the effectiveness of our grassroots advocates when we hit the Hill on March 13, 2019. The Preservation Action Foundation is working to revive our Advocacy Scholars program in 2019, supporting the next generation to hone their preservation advocacy skills at Advocacy Week.
