We’re featuring new tours this year (included in your registration) as well as new sessions and an exciting new Tuesday reception location — the National Union Building. And of course we’ll plan to see you at Wednesday’s Champions of Historic Preservation Congressional Reception and evening Capitol tour following our day of Hill visits. Scroll down to see the preliminary schedule below! It’s going to be a great week.
We need your voice more than ever!
Advocacy Week 2025 will be held at a critical time. Lawmakers need to hear from preservation advocates. The November elections are bringing significant changes to Washington — Republicans will control the House, Senate, and Administration, and are expected to hit the ground running on several priorities. Additionally, over 70 new members of Congress will be sworn-in this January. Educating members on key historic preservation programs and policies will be vital. We must work hard to ensure that historic preservation retains bipartisan interest.
Historic preservation is facing several challenges and opportunities in the new year. One of Republicans’ top priorities will be passing a large tax package, providing a huge opportunity to enact long overdue improvements to the Historic Tax Credit. The voice of preservation advocates will be absolutely essential to make the case for enhancing the HTC and fend off any threats to diminish the credit. We also urgently need to reauthorize the Historic Preservation Fund, which lapsed in September, and continue to advocate for much needed funding for the HPF.
Stay tuned for more details on our legislative agenda, advocacy materials, and more information in the coming weeks. Register today!
Advocacy Week 2025 will feature new in-depth preservation policy trainings and briefings, exciting tours, fresh locations, networking opportunities, and of-course the chance to meet with your members of Congress directly. Don’t miss out on this chance to make a difference and be a part of the preservation movement!
